Located in the center of Ivanhoe, Victoria, Muse Ivanhoe is a lively and modern café where a love of community and food collide. The almond croissant was disappointing. No butter flavour in the pastry and no almond flavour in the frangipane either. There was no flakiness and it had a thick bread-like texture. The croissant was reheated in the microwave prior to it being served which made it soggy and chewy. The cafe staff were standing behind the counter and looking at us the whole time - it didn’t make us feel very comfortable. We had a couple bites and decided to leave. Definitely not one to leave bad reviews for small local businesses but the experience was just not up to standard in this occasion. $7+ for this quality was not acceptable to us.

We had lunch here last week. Lots of cafes in Ivanhoe but Muse was a stand out for service, price, generosity of serves, menu choices, coffee, cleanliness, inviting appearance and location (plenty of parking at the back with rear access directly into the cafe). We had the breakfast bagel and fried eggs with a side of bacon. Both were generous servings with perfectly cooked fried eggs. The breakfast bagel was so good and all the ingredients complemented each other. A generous amount of bacon came with the fried eggs. The coffee was superb as was the service. The cakes and pastries in the cabinet all looked good, sadly no room for anything extra on this visit! Will definitely be back again; it's a toss up between an almond croissant or a danish pastry or maybe lunch again?!
